THE LITTLE THEATRE ANNOUNCES 2007-2008 SEASON
The Little Theatre of New Smyrna Beach, 726 Third Avenue, has announced its 2007-2008 season. There are six plays in the regular season from September - May with a summer show scheduled for July.
Performances are May 16, 17, 22, 23, & 24 at 8:00 p.m. & May 18 & 25 at 2:00 p.m.
Cahoots is a fun show with lots of wise cracking and one-liners. The scene is Ken and Jan's apartment in a Manhattan high rise, where Jan and her best friend Lois are setting up for a dinner party before attending a block association meeting. Neighborhood crime is the subject for the meeting and crime has become an obsession with Lois's husband, Al. In fact, just to show how vulnerable they are, Al impersonates a burglar and breaks into Jan's and Ken's apartment via the terrace. For this and other offenses, there is a growing antagonism between Al and Ken. As dinner progresses so do the insults pushing Ken to the breaking point, erupting into violence and Al ends up dead. The problem then becomes what to do with the body, a dilemma which is compounded when a suspicious security guard arrives at the door. Thinking he is a policeman, they spill their guts before he can utter a word. Before the evening is over our concerned citizens with their outrageous mayhem demonstrate that things usually do get worse before they get better. The dangers of street crime pale in comparison to the hilarious farcical unreality of four "good friends" getting together for a quiet dinner.
Dottie Hughes directs a fine cast with Brian Fitzgibbons in the role of Al, an ad agency art director, and Justine Blanchett as his wife, Lois, a fiction editor. Karen Poulsen portrays Jan, an actress, and Will Bordelon plays her husband Ken, an architect. Rounding out the cast is Ken Guilbeault as the Security Guard, Grant. The production staff includes Harriet Winokur as stage manager and Terry Dudinsky as assistant stage manager. Set design, construction, and decoration is by John Stenko with lights/sound design by Ted Pack and John Stenko. Props are handled by Camille Dickinson and Ida Haverly and costumes by Rose Dingas.
Ticket prices are $14 for adults, $13 seniors (62+) and $7 under age 18. The Little Theatre box office is located at 726 Third Ave., NSB. Open Monday through Friday from 1-4 p.m. For further information call 386-423-1246 or visit www.NsbPlayers.org
