 On May 13, Hollywood stars Julia Duffy (of Newhart and Designing Women fame) and Jerry Lacy (best-known for Woody Allen’s Play it Again Sam and Dark Shadows) will be in Pensacola for a special benefit performance of A. R. Gurney’s Love Letters. This once-in-a-lifetime event at Sanders Beach Community Center is the first fundraising event for Pensacola Shakespeare Theatre, and includes a cocktail hour overlooking Pensacola Bay, a seated dinner, and the performance. =0D=0A=
 This evening marks the kickoff event for Pensacola Shakespeare Theatre’s inaugural season. Pensacola Shakespeare Theatre is the newest member of Pensacola’s arts scene, a professional theatre company bringing actors and other theatrical artists from all over the country to enhance the cultural environment of Northwest Florida by offering performances and educational opportunities of superior professional quality, producing works both classic and modern. =0D=0A=
 The performance of A. R. Gurney’s Pulitzer-nominated Love Letters starring Julia Duffy and her husband of 26 years, Jerry Lacy explores the romance between Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III in over 50 years of correspondence. Notes, letters and cards chronicle a love a lifetime in the making. This wry and poignant story makes a perfect evening to celebrate with a romantic dinner or with a group of friends. =0D=0A=

 Julia Duffy is best known for her role on the 80’s sitcom Newhart, playing Stephanie Vanderkellen for 7 seasons. She earned an Emmy nomination in each of her seasons on the show, a Golden Globe nomination, and won three Viewers for Quality Television awards for her work. After a brief time on the sitcom Baby Talk with George Clooney, she replaced Delta Burke on the hit show Designing Women as Allison Sugarbaker in what would be the show’s highest rated season. Other TV credits include Drake and Josh, 7th Heaven, Reba, and a regular role on The Mommies. =0D=0A=
 Julia’s film credits include Dumb and Dumberer, and Intolerable Cruelty as Sarah Sokin. Ms. Duffy appeared on Broadway in the revival of Hart and Kaufman’s Once In a Lifetime. She most recently appeared on stage as Birdie in Little Foxes with Kelly McGillis at the Pasadena Playhouse.=0D=0A=
 Jerry Lacy’s extensive body of work includes notable roles from film, live theatre and television spanning five decades. He is perhaps best known for playing Humphrey Bogart on Broadway in the Woody Allen comedy Play It Again Sam, and returning to play Bogart in the film of the same name starring Woody Allen and Diane Keaton. On the small screen, he has appeared in recurring roles on The Secret Storm, As the World Turns, Love of Life, and The Young and The Restless, and in the classic cult serial Dark Shadows. =0D=0A=
 Jerry’s Guest Star appearances include The White Shadow, Knots Landing, Saved by the Bell, and Designing Women where he appeared alongside his wife, actress Julia Duffy. In 2009 he returned to Dark Shadows, in an audio drama episode entitled The Wicked and The Dead.=0D=0A=

 On Saturday, May 15, Pensacola Opera will present its final Salon Series Concert of the 2009-2010 at the home of George Gamble. Featuring soprano Jane Redding, this intimate evening will close out the Opera’s 27th Season in grand fashion. The Salon Series of concerts brings Pensacola Opera’s favorite world-class artists to sing in some of the area’s most gorgeous homes. =0D=0A=
 The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres provided by Mike DeSorbo’s Culinary Productions on the poolside terrace overlooking Pensacola Bay. The concert portion will begin at 8 p.m., and will feature Ms. Redding singing operatic arias, jazz standards, and other favorites accompanied by Blake Riley on piano.=0D=0A=

 Hailed for her dazzling virtuosity and charismatic charm, American soprano Jane Redding continues to amaze audiences with her near-flawless musicianship, thrilling high notes, and wide-ranging versatility. Applauded by many, Opera News touted: “ … the powerhouse Zerbinetta of Jane Redding … was superbly sung.” In the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor, critics hailed: "This rising star delivered a staggering, at times mesmerizing, performance. Redding unleashed a remarkably fluent yet powerful voice that filled the cavernous auditorium with what seemed great ease …Redding’s Lucia in deepest delirium served up some of the most delicious singing yet heard from that stage.” Ms. Redding was most recently seen as Magnolia in Pensacola Opera’s production of Show Boat, and will sing Liu in next season’s Turandot. For Pensacola Opera, she has also sung Pamina in The Magic Flute, Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, and Gilda in Rigoletto. She has sung with companies including Des Moines Metro Opera, Virginia Opera, Nevada Opera, and New Orleans Opera among others. Her varied concert career has taken her across the country and on an extended tour of China, singing with the Opera Orchestra of Shanghai.
