Meet the Artists

Abraham Rattner (1893-1978) was a figurative expressionist whose paintings are in museum collections around the world -- including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Vatican. His career spans the 20th century, and influenced both European and American art. The collection also includes works by many of his friends -- including Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Georges Rouault, and the author Henry Miller.

Allen Leepa (b. 1919), Rattner's stepson, is a highly regarded educator, author, and artist known for his abstract expressionist style. He was a professor of art at Michigan State University for 38 years before retiring to Tarpon Springs. His significant philanthropy and extensive philosophies on art education have become integral to the mission of  the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art.
