Marco Bronzini
Painter
Marco
Bronzini's love of his native Provence and his passion for classical
music and Italian Opera are reflected in the vivid colors and the sensuous
lines of his paintings.
In 1973, at age 16, Bronzini began a three year period of study under
the watchful eye of the British sculptor and Royal Academician John
Skeaping, (1901-1980). While in residence at Skeaping's home in Provence
he studied painting, sculpture, (stone carving and clay modeling), and
encountered artists such as Henry Moore, a lifelong friend of Skeaping,
and Barbara Hepworth, Skeaping's first wife. In 1975 he was awarded
a four-year scholarship to the Royal Academy of Arts in London, which
gave him the opportunity to get instruction by renowned British Artists,
Peter Greenham, Robert Buhler and Ruskin Spear and visiting artist David
Hockney. He fulfilled his military commitment in France in 1978, as
was compulsory, and completed his final year at the Academy in 1980.
Bronzini has lived and worked in Germany, England, Scotland, France
and the United States. His paintings are found in many private collections
including: The Paul Mellon collections, The Astor family, The Marks
(Marks & Spencer) family, The Guinness and The Bulmer families.
He is fondly mentioned in John Skeaping's auto-biography "Drawn
from Life".
His work is contained in the permanent collections of the Cornell
Museum of Fine Arts, Orlando, Florida, and the Morse Museum of American
Art, Winter Park, Florida.
